Meet our new Honorary Fellows of 2026
Posted on: Tuesday 30 June 2026
We are very pleased to announce our new Honorary Fellows (FFPM(Hon)).
Honorary Fellowship recognises the recipient’s eminence within their own field or their exceptional contribution to pharmaceutical medicine.

Dr Nigel Parker
The road to establish gene therapy as a successful and important therapeutic class has been a long one. Such therapies can successfully treat diseases where traditional medicines cannot and we are still at the beginning of the journey.
To be recognised by my peers for an outstanding contribution to this sector of pharmaceutical medicine is a deep honour. The Faculty has a strong reputation for advancing the science, ethics, and professional standards of our specialty for the ultimate benefit of patients and I will continue to support the Faculty’s vital mission, collaborating with fellow members, and attending the upcoming Annual Awards Ceremony. I thank the Board of Trustees and the Fellowship and Awards Committee for this prestigious and personally valued accolade.
About Dr Parker
Dr Nigel Parker is a scientist with 40 years international research and commercial experience leading both private and public healthcare and biotechnology companies. For the last 25 years he has specialized in the gene therapy industry sector, securing the finances and leading over 10 clinical gene therapy trials in the EU and USA, from Phase 0 to Phase 3. He was awarded the 2004 London Stock Exchange TechMark Breakthrough of the Year Award for the IPO of Ark therapeutics, a pioneering Anglo-Finnish gene therapy company. He led the team conducting the first Phase 3 gene therapy trial in Europe, accelerating the regulatory pathway for the sector and subsequently invited by the FDA to pilot the US clinical self-assessment process for biologics in 2019 with a novel gene therapy, which went on to result in the US approval of the first adenoviral gene therapy by the FDA.
Dr Parker holds an academic post at the AIV Institute for Molecular Science, University of East Finland and is a member of the Management Board of the Research Council of Finland’s Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products Flagship, Gene-Cell-Nano. He is married with two children and lives in Buckinghamshire.
Dr Sreeram Ramagopalan
Being awarded Honorary Fellowship of the FPM is a real privilege. My work sits at the intersection of real-world evidence, health technology assessment and market access. At its heart, this is about ensuring effective medicines reach the patients who need them. To have that recognised by the Faculty means a great deal, because pharmaceutical medicine is precisely where rigorous science and patient access meet. I’m honoured to join such a community, and look forward to contributing further.
