Membership (MFPM)

We provide a collective voice for our 1,600 members who are striving to advance the research and development of new medicines to help prevent and overcome diseases that impact on the lives of patients worldwide. Our members are all medically-qualified and employed within the pharmaceutical industry, research organisations, drug regulatory authorities – or working as independent consultants.

If you are a physician working in pharmaceutical medicine, we are your professional body!

Am I eligible for Membership (MFPM)?

Membership of FPM, and the right to use the postnominals MFPM, is open to any medical practitioner who:

  • Has a medical qualification listed in the WHO Directory
  • Has current registration with the GMC or the relevant professional body in the country in which you are practising or where you were awarded your primary medical qualification
  • Has a minimum of two years’ experience in a pharmaceutical medical role
  • Holds one of the post graduate qualifications listed below

You do not have to be based in the UK to apply, over 20% of our members are from across the world.

  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine awarded by FPM
  • Diploma in Human Pharmacology awarded by FPM
  • Diploma in Experimental Therapeutics awarded by FPM
  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine awarded by Free University, Brussels
  • Diploma of Advanced Studies in Pharmaceutical Medicine awarded by University of Basel/ECPM
  • CEMDC Cooperative European Medicines Development Course awarded by Semmelweis University, Hungary
  • Masters in Preclinical and Clinical Research and Development of Drugs awarded by University of Milano Bicocca, Italy
  • Masters / Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine awarded by Trinity College Dublin, Ireland
  • Masters / Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine awarded by Hibernia College, Ireland
  • Diploma in Medicines Development awarded by Stellenbosch University, South Africa
  • Masters / Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine awarded by University of Surrey, UK
  • Masters / Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine awarded by James Lind Institute, Switzerland

Do you have a qualification not listed?

Do you have a post graduate Diploma or Masters qualification in pharmaceutical medicine not listed above?  You can sumbit your qualification for review to see if we can accept it for MFPM.

How much does it cost?

There is no joining fee and we will invoice you a pro rata amount for your membership subscription from the day you join to 31 December.

The full year rate is £570 for Members based in the UK and £340 if you are based outside of the UK.

We also have some concessionary rates, for example if you work part time, find out more here.

For the following year, our subscription period runs from 1 January to 31 December each year and you’ll receive an invoice by email in mid December.

Membership also confers the right to use the postnominals MFPM and to vote on FPM matters.

Fast-track application for PMST trainees

If you are enrolled in, or have completed, PMST and have passed the DPM exams you can apply to become a Member of FPM (MFPM) via our fast-track membership form.
