Join this session to hear different perspectives on how pharmaceutical medics can use AI to achieve critical outcomes that tackle global challenges, including how to make AI accessible and accountable, how to reduce the cost of drug development for small populations, and how we should be considering the impact of AI on our healthcare stakeholders.

Mental disorders constitute a significant contribution to the burden of disease on a global scale. Mental health disorders encompass a wide range of conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance abuse disorders, and psychotic disorders, among others. Consistent research has shown a bidirectional relationship between chronic diseases and mental health conditions, with each influencing the other. Evidence that individuals with a childhood chronic physical illness are at greater life-long risk of emotional problems. This finding is critically important in clinical care. Mental health assessment and treatment should be an integral component of comprehensive care of chronically ill children and adolescents.

The pharmaceutical industry has an estimated global market value in excess of $1 trillion, yet significant disparities remain in who benefits from medical innovations. This session will explore whether diversity in participation in the drug development process and equitable access to medicines have truly been achieved. Join experts from industry, academia and regulators, as we discuss and identify practical solutions to promote inclusion, reduce inequality and improve access to essential treatments.

Much has been written about precision medicine, initially with a focus in oncology but more recently in other common non communicable diseases as well as on the genetics of rare and otherwise unclassified syndromes and diseases. With the rapid advancements in the technology of genomics we are learning more about genetic causes and its predispositions, including identifying epigenetic and environmental interactions for at risk populations. It is easy however to lose sight of the individual living with these diseases who is at the centre of these often complex interactions.

Our speakers and panellists will discuss the science, together with the hopes and impacts for individuals living with illness that may be amenable to precision medicine approaches.

Public health is an ever present aspect of medicine that affects all our lives, often working in the background to improve population health and wellbeing. In an aging population with an increased incidence and prevalence of chronic conditions, maximising our healthy and productive later lives has never been more important. Preventive public health as an investment in all our futures is enabled by the depth of knowledge and data that comes from large population datasets and their analyses.

Our speakers and panellists will discuss their experiences and insights from prospective population studies, databases and their analyses and how these can enable better health from a variety of potential interventions

Our upcoming workshop is centred on developing Target Product Profiles (TPPs) in collaboration with patients. Attendees will gain insights and best practices for actively involving patients and will have the opportunity to learn about the impact of patient involvement from the cystic fibrosis community. The workshop will also provide valuable perspectives from the pharmaceutical industry on streamlining the process for efficiency and effectiveness.
