Raising the Profile of Pharmaceutical Medicine

Since the FPM Strategy 2026-28 was announced in October 2025, we have been taking action to deliver on our Extending Reach and Increasing Influence pillar, by attending a range of conferences and events across the healthcare and life sciences sectors.
These events have given us an important opportunity to raise awareness of pharmaceutical medicine and strengthen recognition of FPM as the home of physicians who advance health through innovations in medicines, vaccines, medical devices, precision therapies, diagnostics, and digital health technologies. The events have also provided us with invaluable insights from across the sector through our interactions with engaged delegates. These insights have been fed into our Membership Project and will help to shape future work.

Going global
We were additionally represented at the recent China Pharmaceutical Innovation Conference in Shanghai for which we produced a video of our President, Dr Sheuli Porkess, introducing the specialty and FPM.
We are additionally supporting a Fellow of FPM in raising awareness of pharmaceutical medicine amongst physicians in Trinidad and across the wider West Indies.
Although recognition of pharmaceutical medicine remains low outside the profession, we’re taking steps to change that, and make the specialty and the impact of our members better understood and celebrated.
