Our Managing Respiratory Diseases e-Learning Wins Gold at the 2025 Association Excellence Awards

We are absolutely delighted to announce that our Managing Respiratory Diseases e-Learning Programme won the gold award for Best Education Initiative at the Association Excellence Awards 2025.
In early 2022, FPM launched an important project to support understanding of COVID treatments. FPM organised a series of workshops bringing together stakeholders from government, regulators, academia, and the life sciences. As the membership and standard-setting body for pharmaceutical physicians – a highly skilled cohort of doctors working in vaccines and therapeutics – FPM was uniquely positioned to offer thought leadership and mobilise expertise during the pandemic.
Over the course of the project, its remit expanded to include influenza and RSV, which, combined with COVID, result in significant excess mortality and morbidity in the UK. The unpredictable nature of mutations and seasonal surges strain the UK’s healthcare system, test NHS capacity, and complicate public health planning.
The project produced several important recommendations and presented in a final report. A key recommendation made was the need to enhance the education of pharmaceutical physicians and other healthcare professionals in the clinical presentation and correct prescribing of treatments and therapies for viral respiratory diseases. In 2023/4, FPM committed to taking this forward and developed the “Managing Respiratory Diseases” self-paced eLearning programme.

This free programme is designed to equip healthcare practitioners with the skills and expertise to tackle respiratory diseases, including COVID, Influenza, and RSV. It covers key areas such as symptom identification, treatment application, and therapeutic approaches.
Designed to support various learning styles, this interactive and informative series is available to all UK healthcare professionals via the NHS Learning Hub.
Receiving this award highlights the importance of continued innovation and excellence in healthcare education, and underscores the positive impact that high-quality learning resources can have in supporting healthcare professionals to manage respiratory diseases effectively.
A huge thank you to everyone involved, including our subject matter experts, medical writers, instructional designers, and expert reviewers who contributed their time and enthusiasm to make it a success
