On the evening of Thursday 10 September 2026, FPM welcomed members and guests to the 2026 President’s Lecture for an evening of celebration, conversation and inspiration. Paralympic champion Hannah Cockroft CBE shared her remarkable story and the experiences that have shaped her journey, exploring opportunity, determination and the difference we can make by opening doors for others.

We are pleased to share the official photographs and an overview of Hannah’s lecture below, along with reflections from some of those who joined us on the evening.

“You can do anything, but you cannot do everything.”

In her talk, Hannah reflected on some of the experiences that have shaped her life and career, from growing up with a disability to becoming one of Britain’s most successful Paralympians.

She spoke about the importance of opportunity, support and challenging assumptions, including the influence of her parents and a teacher who introduced her to disability sport. Hannah also shared lessons from her sporting career on determination, focus and adapting to setbacks.

Her closing message focused on opening doors for others: looking for those who may be missing out on opportunities and recognising the difference that encouragement, advocacy and inclusion can make.
