The President’s Lecture is an exclusive event for FPM members, with invited senior leaders and colleagues from across the wider life sciences community and medical royal colleges.

We are delighted to announce Hannah Cockroft CBE, nine-time Paralympic gold medallist and inspiration known for her perseverance and resilience, as our invited speaker for this year’s event. Hannah will share her experiences of navigating a complex health system and offer insights into how the healthcare experience can be improved.

Following the lecture, guests will enjoy a networking reception with canapés and refreshments served on the terrace, accompanied by live music and magnificent views of the London Eye and Southbank – a great setting to reconnect with colleagues.

Meet the speaker

Hannah Cockcroft CBE is a wheelchair racer with an impressive selection of Gold medals to her name. From World Championships to Paralympic Games, Hannah has gained a reputation as a world-class athlete, beyond disabled competition, and has since become a recognisable face in the media. A role model in sport, Hannah has overcome adversity to achieve her ambitions and inspire a generation, which saw her receive an MBE in 2013 before being given an OBE in 2022. Most recently, she was appointed a CBE in the 2025 New Year’s Honours List.

Suffering two cardiac arrests as an infant left Hannah with brain-damage which affected her hips, feet and legs. Having shown a distinct talent for wheelchair sprinting, she was invited to join the GB Paralympic Team, and began competing in the T34 classification of athletes.

Hannah’s story is one of overcoming great challenges to thrive and carve her own path, which in turn provides inspiration for others to face adversity head-on.
