FPM Summer Gathering
Wednesday 15 July 2026
18:00 - 21:30
Join us in July for our first Summer Gathering – an opportunity to connect with colleagues, expand your network, and hear an inspiring talk from our fantastic guest speaker on a pressing topic affecting today’s pharma landscape.
Hear an exclusive talk on the global pressures shaping health security, supply chains and access to care.
In the past few months alone, medicines and healthcare have been drawn into global trade tensions in ways that would have seemed unlikely not long ago, but is this just the beginning? What does it mean for industry, research and patient care if pharmaceuticals become an increasingly geopolitical instrument, and how should we prepare?
With more than two decades of leadership across the private, public and non-governmental sectors, Sacha Deshmukh, former CEO of Amnesty International UK, will explore how a rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape is beginning to reshape healthcare and the pharmaceutical sector.
Enjoy a summer evening with great company in a charming courtyard.
After the talk, continue the conversation over drinks and food, and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with colleagues in a charming outdoor space.
Take part in our fun networking activity designed to help you meet new people, uncover common interests, and expand your professional circle.
We’re also offering sponsorship opportunities at this event. Please get in touch via partnerships@fpm.org.uk if you’re interested in partnering with us.

Meet the Speaker
An expert in geopolitics who over the last two decades has been a chief executive of major private, public and NGO sector organisations operating globally.
Sacha Deshmukh was a chief executive for over 20 years, leading high-profile organisations that navigate complex environments and global geopolitics. After studying Social & Political Sciences and then International Relations at Cambridge University, Sacha started his career in corporate reputation, and grew an entrepreneurial start-up business that ultimately became MHP Group, which for nine years he led as Chief Executive.
As an expert in leading businesses operating in political environments, he then became the Executive Director of the UK’s Parliamentary & Health Service Ombudsman, focusing on modernisation of the organisation’s complex investigations into public service delivery across UK government and the UK National Health Service. He was then asked by the UK government to establish Smart Energy GB as its first Chief Executive, and deliver what Parliament described as the UK’s “largest public engagement campaign for a generation.”
Turning his expertise in leading organisations working across borders and in complex environments to frontiers beyond Europe, he then became Chair of the global NGO War Child. He led War Child as it expanded its work across central Africa and the Middle East, responsible for a team working in some of the most high-risk and complex conflict situations in the world. Building on this, he became Chief Executive of Unicef UK, leading the organisation through its response to the global Covid pandemic and its global vaccine rollout programme.
He then became the Chief Executive of Amnesty International and for five years in that role until the start of 2026, was at the centre of major foreign policy developments globally – including at the UN and international courts. This gave him a unique, insider insight into major social and political developments in China, across the Middle-East, in the United States and in Europe – and how the drivers and impacts of these developments affect both businesses and public policy developments.
Sacha is now an independent adviser to businesses, focusing on the impact of geopolitical developments on business strategy; and how business can plan for and successfully manage risk and threats in an increasingly turbulent world.
Over two decades Sacha has also been a prominent public face and media spokesperson subject to considerable media, political, and social media scrutiny. His public speaking experience ranges from platforms of business conferences and events, to speaking in Parliaments across the world, to speaking to an audience of over 20,000 people in Trafalgar Square.
