Celebrating Volunteer Week 2026

Posted on: Thursday 4 June 2026

The first week of June is Volunteer Week and we want to take this opportunity to thank all those who give their time to support FPM and the wider pharmaceutical medicine community.

Whether you serve on an FPM committee, contribute to an expert group, or share your knowledge in other ways, we are incredibly grateful for the time and expertise that you give.

I like volunteering for FPM because...
you know that inside the membership cadre, there are people you can find who can help you, and whom you can help too. Mutual support, mutual benefit.

David Goldsmith FFPM

Volunteer role: Member of the New Technologies Expert Group

I am proud to volunteer for FPM because...
it allows me to give back to a specialty I value, while continuing to learn from colleagues across the community. Through the EDI Forum, I have found opportunities to connect, reflect and support meaningful work. Through the Trainees Committee, I help bring the PMST trainee voice into conversations shaping the future of pharmaceutical medicine.

Chitra Kumaravel

Volunteer roles: Member of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Forum and a member of the Trainees Committee

Volunteering with FPM matters to me because...
it allows me to support high standards in pharmaceutical medicine and help colleagues entering our specialty to grow and succeed, whilst continuing to develop my own knowledge and build my professional network.

James Penton MFPM

Volunteer role: Officer on the Board of Examiners

Volunteering matters to me because...
it is a privilege to contribute to Pharmaceutical Medicine through my roles on the Board of Examiners for the DPM examination and as a PMST Educational Supervisor. Supporting and helping shape the next generation of specialists through education and training is an important part of strengthening the future of the specialty.

Sadia Halim FFPM

Volunteer roles: Member of the Board of Examiners and an Educational Supervisor for Specialty Training

Volunteering matters to me because...
it connects my commitment to lifelong learning with a mission that improves research, regulation, and patient outcomes. It allows me to support colleagues, share knowledge, and contribute to a community that values excellence, equity, and scientific responsibility. Giving my time to FPM feels purposeful, energising, and aligned with the future I want to help build in pharmaceutical medicine.
