Calling all Fellows, Members, Associates and Affiliate members!

FPM’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Forum is going through a period of change and we’re looking for thoughtful, dynamic new members. This group advocates and develops standards for the adoption of representative, diverse and inclusive practices across all settings in which pharmaceutical medicine is practised, including within FPM itself.

The EDI Forum partners across FPM’s membership and beyond to create an environment that enables everyone, irrespective of ethnicity, race, ability status, age, politics, sexual orientation, gender or religion, to reach their full potential.

Pharmaceutical medicine provides a vital service to society and the forum strives to embed the qualities of representation and inclusion into the practice, in turn producing the best outcomes for all the patients and diverse communities which we serve.

Operational

The EDI Forum person specification and relevant FPM policy documents are provided below. Forum members must act in compliance with these. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to meet an appointment panel which will be led by the Chair of the EDI Forum.

Forum members typically serve for a period of three years. This can be extended to a maximum of six years if re-appointed. Members may be asked to step down from the group if they are not able to attend meetings or actively contribute to the work of the group satisfactorily.

It is anticipated that there will be three two-hour meetings per year, usually conducted virtually. There will be unspecified additional time commitments involved in supporting the work of the forum between meetings or on specific projects.

Forum Terms of Reference

  • Collaborate with academic and industry groups to review and advise on EDI priorities, elevate the importance and develop the practical implementation of EDI in the specialty
  • Increase participation of under-represented groups in FPM activities
  • Identify initiatives to showcase the diversity and achievements of FPM members
  • Promote the pharmaceutical medicine specialty as a career choice that is open to all physicians
