Seeking members for the ‘Routes to Membership’ working group

This is a call for volunteers to join our Working Group on “Routes to Membership”. This is a very important and integral project that aims to make FPM a more inclusive and impactful membership body, whilst staying true to our origins and purpose.

This Working Group has been established to review and update the criteria for the award of Membership (MFPM) in order to:

  • Establish a set of principles by which qualifications can be reviewed and considered as acceptable for the award of MFPM.
  • Consider an alternative ‘experience route’ to MFPM that awards membership based on criteria that recognises a demonstration of significant experience and skills as well as academic or professional qualifications.

(MFPM applicants will still need to possess a medical qualification listed in the WHO Directory and current registration with the GMC or the relevant professional body in the country in which they are practising or where they were awarded their primary medical qualification. You can see information about the current membership criteria here: https://www.fpm.org.uk/membership/membership-categories/)

The Working Group will last for around 12 months, with monthly meetings held online until the FPM Board meeting in May 2022, and ad-hoc meetings following this.

You can find more information on this working group in the Terms of Reference below.

If you would like to learn more, or are interested in volunteering to join us, then please email membership@fpm.org.uk

The group will work closely with FPM’s staff.

Affiliates, Associates, Members and Fellows are eligible to apply. This is your opportunity to shape the future of FPM.
