FPM Vacancy

Seeking members for FPM’s Global Forum

The FPM’s Board of Trustees have approved the formation of a new forum focusing exclusively on our global activity.  This forum has a challenging remit and will focus on increasing FPM’s global reach, guide the development of bespoke international education and training programmes, influence the harmonisation of international standards in pharmaceutical medicine, provide a global perspective on policy development and advocate for global members.

Forum terms of reference

  • To support FPM activities which aim to harmonise the professional, educational and ethical standards for pharmaceutical physicians globally.
  • To support FPM activities which aim to improve the health of patients and the public globally.
  • To provide global perspective to FPM policy development and activity planning through the Executive Committee and other committees and groups.
  • To support and encourage the participation of internationally based membership in FPM activities.
  • To promote and represent the FPM within relevant institutions and bodies.

Via its Chair, the Global Forum will work closely with FPM’s Chief Executive and Head of Education.

We are seeking members for this new forum and all Affiliates, Associates, Members and Fellows are eligible to apply. This is your opportunity to support the growth of FPM on the global stage.

Main responsibilities of a forum member

  • Attend meetings, either in person or by video conferencing
  • Actively contribute to the work of the Global Forum
  • Participate in communications by email / telephone in between meetings as required
  • Undertake other activities on behalf of the Global Forum and FPM as agreed
  • Act in compliance with the FPM’s Governing Documents and Procedures
  • Follow the guidance set out in the FPM’s committee guidance documents
  • Act in compliance with the FPM’s Policies including its Code of Conduct and Equal Opportunities Policy
  • Act in compliance with FPM’s values

Appointment

The method of appointment is open advertisement from the membership of FPM. A person specification is provided below. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to meet an appointment committee which will be chaired by the Chief Executive.


Tenure

Forum members normally serve for a period of three years. This can be extended to a maximum of six years if re-appointed. Forum members may be asked to step down from the group if they are not able to attend meetings or contribute to the work of the group satisfactorily.


Time Commitment

It is anticipated that there will be three two-hour meetings per year by video conferencing.  There will be additional time commitments involved in supporting the work of the Forum in between meetings but it is difficult to be prescriptive about the extent of this.


Confidentiality

Information relating to committee business must be kept confidential unless otherwise agreed by FPM.


Expenses

FPM will reimburse travel and subsistence costs arising from reasonable attendance at FPM meetings and events under the terms of the FPM’s Expense Claim Policy.


Person specification

As part of your application, please provide details and examples of how you meet these criteria:

Essential

  • In good standing with the relevant medical registration body (e.g. GMC)
  • Current Fellow, Member, Associate or Affiliate of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine in good standing

Desirable

  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Evidence of achievement and contributions to the specialty of Pharmaceutical Medicine
  • Currently undergoing revalidation
