Are you passionate about shaping the future of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FPM) and building our community? We invite you to consider the FPM Education and Standards Committee (ESC).
Applications are invited for new members of the ESC of the FPM. This is a great opportunity to get involved, to help shape the implementation of FPM’s strategic plan through to 2028, and to be directly involved in developing the next generation of pharmaceutical physicians across the world.
Who should apply?
We’re looking for passionate, committed individuals who:
- are current members of FPM in good standing;
- can demonstrate achievement in and strong commitment to the specialty of pharmaceutical medicine;
- have strong intellectual and analytical skills, independent judgement and the ability to offer constructive challenge;
- enjoy collaborating in a team environment and are eager to support FPM’s learning development activities; and
- are looking to bring fresh ideas and new perspectives.
An understanding of current and emerging developments in pharmaceutical medicine – including medical devices, precision therapies, diagnostics and digital health technologies – and of current and emerging trends in professional education would be an advantage.
How will you contribute?
The ESC support and advise on the planning and implementation of FPM’s learning and development offer.
Committee members are required amongst other things to:
- advise on the planning and delivery of FPM’s examinations, training programmes and courses in pharmaceutical medicine, including on syllabi and standards;
- consider, and when required make proposals to the Board on, strategies and opportunities for developing FPM’s learning and development offer
- review the performance, relevance and standards of the examinations and courses to ensure they remain fit for purpose;
- set the standards for and oversee FPM’s recognition/accreditation of other bodies’ educational courses, including for the purposes of CPD.
The Committee meets four times a year. Committee meetings will normally be held online although may include at least one face to face meeting during the year.
Committee members normally serve for a period of three years. This can be extended to a maximum of six years if re-appointed.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a discussion about their application, which is likely to take place early in August 2025.
