Important Update on the Human Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics Examinations
Posted on: Friday 30 May 2025
Following an internal review, and in the light of feedback from employers and the stakeholders, we have decided that the following programmes are being formally discontinued:
- Certificate in Human Pharmacology (CHP)
- Diploma in Human Pharmacology (DHP)
- Diploma in Experimental Therapeutics (DET)
These qualifications have been suspended to new registrations for several months. That suspension is now a permanent closure with immediate effect and we will no longer be accepting new applications.
For current candidates:
The CHP and DHP examinations will be offered two final times in Autumn 2025 and Autumn 2026, and portfolios for the DHP and DET must be submitted within 12 months of exam completion. The application window for the Autumn 2025 exam is open from 2 June – 14 July 2025.
For past graduates:
If you have previously been awarded the DHP, CHP or DET qualification, please be assured that your credential remains valid and officially recognised by FPM. Your attainment of these qualifications continues to be a significant professional achievement, and the discontinuation of the programme does not in any way diminish their value.
Holders of these qualifications may continue to cite them as evidence of prior achievement, with confidence that it retains its integrity and recognition.
For prospective candidates
If you are interested in the field of Human Pharmacology and were considering the D/CHP, we encourage you to explore the Certificate in Pharmaceutical Medicine (CPM) or Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine (DPM) qualifications. These qualifications formally recognise knowledge and expertise in pharmaceutical medicine and may be suitable for those seeking continued professional recognition.
Furthermore, FPM is currently exploring the development of a Portfolio Pathway as an alternative means of accrediting expertise in Human Pharmacology. Further information will be provided in due course.
