Dr. Fauzia Anwar is a distinguished physician and Senior Medical Director, serving as a Medical Safety Assessment Program Lead at Bristol Myers Squibb, USA. With over 15 years of clinical practice across Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United States, she brings a wealth of global medical experience to her leadership in pharmaceutical medicine.

Since transitioning to the pharmaceutical industry in 2007, Dr. Anwar has held senior roles at several leading global pharmaceutical companies, contributing across therapeutic areas including oncology, immunology, and cardiology. She is widely recognized for her expertise in pharmacovigilance, risk management, and global regulatory strategy.

Dr. Anwar earned her medical degree from Fatima Jinnah Medical University in Pakistan. She continued her academic training in the United States, completing advanced coursework in medical and pharmacovigilance sciences at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ, now Rutgers University), along with a research fellowship in infectious diseases.

She was recently elected Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FPM) of the Royal Colleges of Physicians, reflecting her ongoing commitment to advancing the science and practice of pharmaceutical medicine.

In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Anwar is an active member of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) and TAKMIL (Teach A Kid Make Individual Life). She also serves as Director of the Kashi Village Female Vocational Center in Pakistan, promoting education and empowerment for women.

Dr. Anwar is passionate about improving patient outcomes, mentoring future pharmaceutical physicians, and contributing to global efforts in medicine safety and innovation.

Dr Philip Cruz is an experienced pharmaceutical physician and leader in medical affairs, with a 20-year career spanning global, regional, and national roles across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Emerging Markets. He is currently Country Medical Director at Moderna UK, where he leads the UK medical affairs strategy across a portfolio of mRNA vaccines across various stages of clinical development.

Prior to joining Moderna, Philip served as Senior Global Medical Affairs Leader at AstraZeneca and held leadership roles at GlaxoSmithKline including Medical Manager in the Emerging Markets, UK Vaccines Medical Director and Area Medical Leader for Asia-Pacific. His career has centred on developing and executing medical affairs strategies that support public health goals, regulatory engagement, and scientific excellence.
He has led high-performing medical teams, launched new vaccines into national immunisation programmes, overseen various stages of clinical research, and shaped policy through engagement with regulatory and technical advisory bodies.

A strong advocate for ethical standards, Philip has been an ABPI Final Signatory since 2016 and currently serves on the ABPI Medical Strategy Group. He is also a Visiting Lecturer at King’s College London, teaching postgraduate students about vaccinology, medical affairs operations and strategy. In addition, he hosts The Pharma Medic podcast, a platform that shares practical insights for early-career professionals navigating the life sciences sector.

Yasser S el Baghdady MD MSc MBA MFPM is a qualified pharmaceutical physician, with an MD from Cairo-Egypt, and MSc in pharmaceutical medicine from the University of Surrey, UK and MBA from Thames Valley University, UK. He is a member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine and also a member of the FPM Global Forum Committe and the FPM Membership Committee.

Yasser has more than twenty five years of experience in CVS & metabolisim, Immuno-respiratory drug development and orphan indications, from pre-clinical and first-in-human phase through to registration and post-marketing LCM, he held different positions with various responsibilities working for multinational pharma like GSK and Novartis, as well as biotech pharma like United Therapeutics.

Yasser is a co-founder of AlphaBeta Pharma (2007), a medicine development consultancy partnership that provides consultancy services to biotech companies and academic institutes. In 2020 he became a co-founder and CEO of the Middle East Association for Pharmaceutical Professionals. MEAPP is a professional -non for profit- membership organization that offers well known European accredited qualifications and certifications to develop a high professional standard in the specialty of Pharmaceutical Medicine for professionals in the Middle East and Africa.

I am a highly experienced and motivated former clinician – trained and working in Cambridge and London – and am now a seasoned pharmaceutical physician and biosciences entrepreneur. I have 40 years of clinical experience as a fully registered doctor with a current license to practise in the UK, for over 25 years on the Specialist Register as a Specialist Clinician and Trainer, and 7 years leading the clinical and drug development and medical affairs activities for a biopharmaceutical start-up, SolasCure.

My clinical work encompassed all aspects of acute and chronic kidney disease management, kidney/pancreas transplantation, chronic heart failure, diabetic kidney disease, and rare genetic diseases (VHL and LMBBS). I have extensive experience in clinical and translational research with over 500 publications (H index 69, 2024), and raising over £2.5 millions in research grants, while holding honorary academic positions at King’s College, St George’s University, London, and other Universities including Iasi, Romania (2010-2020). At SolasCure we have raised over £27 millions in EIC/other grants and external investments. With my recent CMO position at SolasCure, I developed deep sector knowledge of wound care.

Dr Anthony Hall (Tony) graduated from King’s College London with first class
honours in physiology and pharmacology before going on to qualify as a doctor in
1991 from the Royal Free Hospital London. He joined the pharmaceutical industry in 1994 and has spent many years working on the development of drugs for rare
diseases. In recent years Tony has worked at Prosensa/ Biomarin on the development of antisense oligonucleotides for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy and at Mereo BioPharma where, as Therapeutic Area Head Orphan Diseases, he worked on the development of a monoclonal antibody for the treatment
of osteogenesis imperfecta. In January 2020 Tony joined Healx as Chief Medical Officer, with overall responsibility for the company’s clinical programmes and in February 2025 he became Chief Medical Officer at Boost Pharma, a spin-off from the Karolinska Institute, working on the development of a mesenchymal stem cell
potential treatment for osteogenesis imperfecta.

Tony helped conceive the development programme and clinical trials for the
repurposing of nitisinone for the ultra-rare disease alkaptonuria (AKU). The
DevelopAKUre Consortium, in which his company participated, was awarded EUR 6
million under the EU’s 7th Framework Programme and Marketing Authorisation was
granted in September 2020.

Tony is Co-founder and Trustee of the rare diseases charity Beacon and, together
with Beacon’s Co-founder, he published a book entitled “The Patient Group
Handbook: A Practical Guide for Research and Drug Development”.

In June 2025, Tony was appointed Chair of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine’s
Rare Diseases Expert Group. Tony’s passion is working with companies developing
medicines where there is a high unmet medical need, in order to provide real benefit
to patients.

Andrew is Senior Medical Director and Global Clinical Lead for Early Clinical Development in AstraZeneca’s R&D BioPharmaceuticals unit.

He studied Genetics and Medicine at Newcastle University, held clinical academic posts in Oxford and North West London, including the Royal Brompton Hospital, and completed a DPhil in clinical genomics and statistical genetics at the University of Oxford.

His doctoral work redefined the genetic basis of cardiomyopathy, which now informs European and US clinical practice guidelines and risk tools. By broadening ancestral representation in genomic research, he has improved variant interpretation, identified ancestry-linked disease mechanisms, and revised clinical gene panels, improving diagnostic accuracy worldwide.

Since joining AstraZeneca, he has led the use of AI on population-scale multi-omics data to find genetically supported drug targets. Work from this programme, published in Nature and profiled by the World Economic Forum, has twice received the company’s best pre-clinical paper award (2020–25).

In Early Clinical Development, Andrew leads global early-phase trials, delivering proof-of-mechanism and proof-of-concept data that supports robust governance decisions.

Dr Shabir Hasham is an accomplished Chief Medical Officer with over 20 years of leadership experience across the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. Based in Switzerland, he has held senior roles in companies including Santhera Pharmaceuticals, Novartis, Biogen, and Pfizer, driving strategic innovation in clinical development, regulatory affairs, medical affairs, and commercial planning.

Currently serving as Chief Medical Officer at Santhera, Dr Hasham leads multifunctional global teams across Clinical Development, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Medical Affairs, and Quality. He has successfully overseen pivotal Phase 2–4 studies and secured global marketing authorisations for novel therapies in rare diseases, including the first-in-class dissociative corticosteroid vamorolone for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. His work integrates real-world evidence, health technology assessments, and innovative post-approval strategies.

Dr Hasham’s career reflects a sustained commitment to scientific and ethical excellence, aligned with the Faculty’s values. He has led initiatives for the use of real-world evidence in the approval of novel therapies, the use of novel clinical outcome measures to support market access and patient management and supported the development of international treatment consensus guidelines for ultra rare indications. He has authored over 90 scientific outputs and presented widely at international congresses. As a mentor and educator, he has advanced the careers of numerous professionals and championed pharmaceutical medicine standards.

Dr Hasham now joins the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine as a Fellow, in recognition of his significant contributions to the discipline and his dedication to advancing the safe and effective development of medicines. He is particularly committed to promoting the Faculty’s standards internationally, with a focus on outreach in Switzerland.

Dr Pranab Kalita is a professional in Global Medical Affairs and Clinical Development with over 20 years of international experience in clinical practice and the pharmaceutical industry. He holds a Medical Degree (MBBS), a post-graduate Diploma in Psychiatry (D.P.M) from Assam Medical College & Hospital, India, and a Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Imperial College, London. Additionally, he has completed an Executive program in Business Management from IIM, Kolkata, and senior leadership courses from IMD, Lausanne, INSEAD, Singapore.

After gaining experience in clinical practice in Psychiatry, he transitioned to the pharmaceutical industry. For the past 17 years, he has held various leadership roles in medical affairs and clinical development at global, regional (Asia-Pacific), and country levels (India, Australia). Based in the United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia, and India, Dr Kalita has led international medical affairs teams in scientific exchanges with major health authorities, various healthcare professional and patient organizations across multiple therapeutic areas. His work has primarily focused on Psychiatry, Neurology, and Respiratory medicine at companies such as Pfizer, J&J, Lundbeck, GSK, Haleon, and recently Boehringer-Ingelheim.

In clinical development, his roles have included working as a study responsible physician to leading global clinical research, biostatistics, and data management teams for multiple industry-sponsored clinical programs (Phase II to Phase IV). He has co-authored more than 20 scientific publications and presented at multiple international congresses.

Dr Kalita is recognized for building and leading global medical and clinical teams for successful clinical programs and product launches in complex international matrix environments. He aims to continue advancing innovation in medicine through a deeper understanding of unmet patient needs and contributing to the science and practice of pharmaceutical medicine.

Dr Clinton Lai is Clinical Program Leader at Novartis Biomedical Research. He leads early program teams in the clinical exploration of novel immune cell engagers and signal disrupting agents for the treatment of advanced malignancies. Clinton studied medicine at the University of Birmingham. Following graduation, he underwent postgraduate training in internal medicine and became an elected member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh upon completion. Clinton subsequently became an oncology specialist registrar in London and developed an interest in biomarker identification and experimental therapeutics. Since embarking on a career in the pharmaceutical industry, he has taken on positions of increasing responsibility in oncology clinical development and medical affairs.

Clinton is an enabler of innovation. He is a voting member of several assessment panels at Hong Kong Science Park Corporation that evaluate healthcare start-up enterprises seeking investments. Concurrently, he serves on the biotechnology advisory panel that appraises biotechnology companies bound for initial public offerings at Hong Kong Stock Exchange. As a member of the board of examiners and a newly elected fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Clinton is committed to upholding the professional standards of the specialty.

Dr Christopher Lee is a pharmaceutical executive and academic with a strong foundation in biomedical science and clinical medicine. He holds a PhD from Salford University, an MSc in Endocrinology from Leeds University, and a BSc (Hons) in Physiology and Biochemistry and an Executive MBA from the Quantic School of Business & Technology. His medical degree (MBBS) was conferred by St George’s Hospital Medical School in London.

Dr Lee currently serves as Chief Medical Officer at Frontier Diagnostics, where he leads the company’s clinical development programs focused on transforming the early diagnosis of breast cancer, enabling personalised treatment strategies, and improving relapse monitoring through cutting-edge diagnostics.

Throughout his career, Dr Lee has played key roles in global clinical development and medical affairs, having held senior leadership positions at Ajinomoto, Boehringer Ingelheim, Takeda, Astellas, and Mundipharma.

Dr Lee’s therapeutic focus includes diabetes/metabolism, cardiovascular and renal medicine, CNS disorders, psychiatry, and oncology. His expertise spans the design and execution of Phase II/IIIIV trials, lifecycle management, Global medical affairs strategy development  and the successful launch of major therapeutic agents across regions including the US, EU, Asia, and Latin America.

In addition to his corporate achievements, Dr Lee has served as a Captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps (Territorial Army), volunteered in charitable medical work in India, and delivered over 150 presentations to scientific, regulatory, and patient communities worldwide.

Tom MacDonald was Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacoepidemiology in MEMO Research in the Medical School, University of Dundee. He was also an honorary consultant cardiovascular physician at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School where he ran the cardiovascular risk clinic, a European Society of Hypertension accredited centre of excellence. His research interests were hypertension, cardiovascular disease prevention, pharmacoepidemiology and drug safety and innovative trial designs. He has published over 400 articles.He is a past president of the British and Irish Hypertension Society, a past president of the International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology and was the director of MEMO Research and the Hypertension Research Centre. He was also a past co-chair of the steering committee of the European Network of Centres for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance.

Professor MacDonald’s first degree was in pharmacology at Aberdeen University. He then studied medicine at Dundee, was a Wellcome Lecturer at the Royal infirmary Edinburgh and has been a consultant physician at Ninewells Hospital and Medical school in Dundee since 1990. He was awarded the Lilly Prize for clinical pharmacology in 2021. He has now retired from clinical practice but retains a license to practice in order or pursue SafeMed Limited, a company that aims to streamline the marketing authorisation of novel medicines and devices by providing 100% validated, real-time pharmacovigilance, effectiveness and health economic data as a service to the pharmaceutical industry.

Ketan is a trained physician (M.B.B.S) and has also received a master’s degree in ‎Pharmaceutical Medicine from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. He has over 18 years of work experience as a clinician and in the pharmaceutical industry. In the industry, he has contributed as a pharmaceutical physician in clinical research, pharmacovigilance, medical information, and regulatory affairs domains. He has extensively contributed to patient safety across the lifecycle of medicinal products from clinical development to post marketing phases. His expertise includes safety monitoring in clinical trials, safety submission activities, signal detection and risk management, and continuous benefit-risk assessment.
Since 2023, he was appointed to the current role as Senior Director – Global Patient Safety. In this role, he provides global medical leadership for patient safety, focusing on safety surveillance and risk management. He leads and guides safety surveillance activities, ensuring proactive risk management and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. He contributes to global patient safety strategies and supports the QPPV in fulfilling legal responsibilities. He collaborates with cross functional teams to ensure high-quality medical evaluations for regulatory purposes and represents the Global Patient Safety function within the company and externally.

Ketan believes that patient safety is not just a regulatory obligation but a moral imperative that ensures trust in healthcare systems and the pharmaceutical industry. He is dedicated to contributing to the field by leveraging his extensive experience and expertise to safeguard patients and enhance the therapeutic value of medical products in the global market.

Sameer Mistry currently serves as Senior Medical Director and Early Medical Lead within the Global Medical Affairs team at GSK. His current focus is on assets in early development (pre-clinical to phase 2) within the respiratory and immunology therapy areas.

Sameer’s industry career spans 20 years at Johnson & Johnson and GSK with experience in medical affairs and clinical development across multiple therapy areas across pharmaceuticals, medtech, consumer healthcare and digital health. He has worked in UK, EMEA and global roles, with experience at all stages of the product lifecycle from pre-clinical to phase 4, launch and commercialisation. Particular highlights include the launch of Stelara (ustekinumab) in 2009, building and leading several medical teams, establishing medical affairs capabilities within the medtech sector and demonstrating the value that medical affairs can add at the earliest stages of drug development.

Alongside Sameer’s executive responsibilities at GSK, since 2023 he has been a non-executive director, board member and trustee at LifeArc, a UK-based company that works with partners to translate cutting edge science into life-changing new treatments. He is also a longstanding mentor on the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, supporting those working in the NHS to develop their ideas for new products or services that improve patient care and outcomes.

Sameer graduated from the University of Manchester Medical School and qualified as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, having spent 4 years practising as a surgical trainee in the UK.

Lisa graduated with a bachelor’s degree in medicine from the University of the West Indies in Trinidad & Tobago and further specialized in paediatrics with an interest in neurology. After a decade of clinical practice within the West Indies and the UK National Health Service (NHS), she obtained her Certificate of Completion of Specialty Training (CCST) in Pharmaceutical Medicine and dedicated the past 18 years to supporting patients by ensuring the right drugs are developed for the right people at the right time.
The Pharmaceutical Industry offered opportunities to serve the patient community and contribute to developments in healthcare that she never appreciated as a clinician or medical student. It is for this reason, she feels passionate about this profession, and really wants to demonstrate to others that Pharmaceutical Medicine is a career option of great integrity, professionalism, and innovation at an individual and societal level.

Her career spanned various affiliate, regional and global medical affairs roles of increasing seniority at Wyeth, GSK, Merck Group, Vifor Pharma, Santhera, GW Pharmaceuticals and now Jazz Pharmaceuticals. In her current role as Senior Director, Global Medical Affairs, she enables research and delivery of approved medicines for people with epilepsy and other neurological disorders with the aim of improving the quality of life for patients and their caregivers.

To accomplish this, she works as a key member of several global patient advocacy groups (PAGs) and scientific working committees, e.g. the Tuberous Sclerosis Complex International (TSCi) Clinical Trial and Industry Forum, the International Bureau of Epilepsy (IBE) Corporate Council and the Inchstone Project Industry Advisory Panel, to advocate for the needs of people with severe disorders that limit their ability to access the healthcare they deserve.

Dr. William Mwiti is a globally respected pharmaceutical physician and Medical Affairs leader working as the AstraZeneca BioPharma Business Unit Head- Sub-Saharan Markets. He has over 16 years of experience driving equitable access to medicines and healthcare innovations across Africa and Emerging markets. He is the first professional from East Africa to be inducted as a Member & Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (UK), Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, in recognition of his contributions to advancing Pharmaceutical Medicine.
Dr. Mwiti served as Global Medical Director at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), supporting Medical Affairs strategy, governance, and performance across 103 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. He played a pivotal role in shaping GSK’s strategic model for access to vaccines and essential medicines, embedding governance, compliance, and risk management systems to enhance healthcare outcomes in underserved regions. He was a core member of GSK’s Emerging Markets Operations Coordination Group, guiding scientific education, pharmacovigilance capacity building, and medical program oversight.

Previously, as GSK’s Country Medical Director in Kenya, he led strategic partnerships with global health agencies, initiated key access programs, and supported clinical trial execution. His leadership enabled major health system improvements, including the launch of Kenya’s first malaria vaccine trials and collaborations with institutions like the Aga Khan University Hospital on oncology research and molecular diagnostics.

Dr. Mwiti holds a First-Class Master’s in Pharmaceutical Medicine, advanced certification in Enterprise Risk Management, and is an alumnus of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Fellowship at Oxford University. He has authored peer-reviewed publications on vaccine effectiveness and antimicrobial resistance and regularly presents at international conferences on Medical Affairs governance, ethics, and compliance.

A passionate advocate for ethical medical leadership, Dr. Mwiti continues to contribute to the advancement of pharmaceutical medicine through innovation, mentorship, and a patient-centered approach to healthcare strategy delivery.

Prof. Naderali graduated in Medicine and earned a PhD in Pharmacology, building a strong foundation in both clinical practice and scientific research. He spent several years working within the NHS, gaining extensive hands-on experience, before transitioning into academia, where he was appointed Chair of Obesity at Liverpool Hope University. His career spans senior leadership roles in major pharmaceutical companies and Contract Research Organizations, where he has served as Principal Investigator and led functions in medical affairs and clinical development. Prof. Naderali has played an active role in the development, launch, and commercialisation of over 10 innovative medicines across a range of therapeutic areas. In addition to his industry and academic contributions, he has been an active member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine for over 15 years, supporting the revalidation process and helping to uphold professional standards in the field. His diverse experience reflects a deep commitment to advancing both patient care and the science of medicine.

Kemi Oluwayi’s career in medicine is marked by her impactful contributions spanning more than two decades. Within the pharmaceutical industry, she has excelled in clinical development and research, driving forward advancements in these critical areas.

After earning her MBChB from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria, Kemi sharpened her medical and clinical skills within the UK’s National Health Service, with roles encompassing various specialties in general and internal medicine. Her clinical research journey was catalysed at Quintiles, where she expanded her expertise across diverse therapeutic indications.

Kemi’s work, characterized by her leadership as Principal Investigator, spans multiple therapeutic areas such as immunology, respiratory medicine, and vaccine development. Her efforts have advanced treatment methodologies, greatly benefiting patients with a range of health conditions.

She has authored numerous publications, enriching the scientific community’s understanding of allergen immunotherapy and other therapeutics. Her career in the pharmaceutical industry is defined by a steadfast commitment to medical excellence and innovative practices.

Currently, Kemi serves as Director, Vaccine Senior Clinical Science Lead at GSK. Her attainment of Fellowship in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine marks a significant milestone, acknowledging her expertise and dedication to the field.

Kemi is deeply grateful to her mentors, colleagues, and family for their unwavering support throughout her journey. She is eager to continue contributing to FPM’s mission by promoting the highest standards in medicine development and regulation, ensuring that patients around the world have access to safe and effective therapeutic options.

Laurent Pacheco, MD PhD MBA GFMD FFPM first trained in Public Health at Paris-La Sorbonne School of Medicine and later specialized in Pharmaceutical Medicine at King’s College London. After clinical practice, he pursued a career in consulting with PwC, serving large life science corporations as well as mid-size and early-stage ventures and worked in Paris, New-York and London. His experience has spanned a broad range of disciplines, including R&D, medical affairs, HEOR, market access, commercial operations and strategy. He eventually became Head of Life Science at BearingPoint Consulting in the UK. Later Laurent joined the industry as Managing Director (international) at Syneos Health.

Subsequently, Laurent embraced a career in healthcare management and finance as a venture capital investor with Solas BioVentures, where he supports ventures developing novel technologies in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, and digital health. An experienced non-executive director, Laurent also serves as Chairman of the London Venture Capital Network and as Managing Partner of the International Family Offices Alliance for Health.

In parallel, Dr Pacheco also serves as a Senior Lecturer at King’s College London where he specialises in health economics and finance, both in teaching and research. His research themes and publications cover HEOR, patient access, public health policies, healthcare entrepreneurship, healthcare management and finance.

Laurent holds a doctorate in medicine, a PhD in health economics, an MBA, A MS in pharmacology and a MS in Health Systems Administration. He is an alumnus of Paris-La Sorbonne, Oxford University and King’s College London.

Dr Pacheco was recognized as a Global Fellow in Medicines Development, and elected as a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK.

Dr Emily Pegg completed her medical degree at Oxford University and University College London before working as a doctor in London at Ealing, Chelsea & Westminster and King’s College Hospitals.  She had a keen interest in the pharmaceutical industry from an early stage, completing internships and taster days at pharmaceutical companies whilst still at Medical School. She started her career as a Pharmaceutical Physician in 2013 at Novartis before moving to Shire/Takeda and then to Eli Lilly and has worked in a variety of Medical Affairs roles at individual country and European level.  She has worked with products in market and in development across the therapeutic areas of Neurology, Rare Genetic Diseases, Oncology, Immunology and Cardio-metabolic health. She is currently the Associate Vice President for Medical for the Northern European Hub leading a team across the UK, Ireland & Nordics at Eli Lilly.

Dr Anzal Qurbain MBBS, BSc (Hons), MBA, FFPM is an elite-level pharmaceutical physician whose 25-year career spans the highest levels of medical, regulatory, commercial, and digital leadership across global pharma and biotech.

Uniquely positioned at the intersection of medical science, regulatory strategy, and executive business leadership, Dr Qurbain trained in medicine and biological sciences at the world-renowned Imperial College London and St Mary’s Hospital and holds an Executive MBA from London Business School. He has delivered strategic impact across top-tier companies including GSK, Pfizer, Novartis, Sanofi, Roche, Merz, and UCB.

He has led numerous successful product launches, served as company investigator in multinational Phase 3/4 trials, and driven global HTA, SmPC, and market access strategy across therapy areas including CNS, respiratory, immunology, rare disease, and aesthetics. His ability to combine ABPI signatory rigour with commercial fluency and digital foresight sets him apart.

Dr Qurbain has overseen controlled-access treatment programmes, provided safety leadership in psychedelic CNS clinical trials, and led the design and delivery of training programmes for the medical profession in complex and emerging disease areas. As a trusted final signatory and compliance strategist, he has led organisations through flawless MHRA inspections, PV audits, CQC reviews, and Responsible Person oversight – while mentoring the next generation of signatories and cross-functional leaders.

Internationally recognised, he has contributed to global drug safety systems, including his work with the World Health Organization on refining VigiBase, the world’s largest safety database. At the forefront of digital transformation in pharma, he is also an AI innovation leader, shaping intelligent automation tools to optimise compliance, medical review, and omnichannel strategy.

Dr Emad Siddiqui is an accomplished pharmaceutical physician currently serving as Senior Vice President, Head of Medical Affairs Global Brand Strategy at Astellas Pharma. He brings over 18 years of experience in pharmaceutical medicine with a focus on Medical Affairs, Clinical Development and Health Economic Outcome Research. He has held various positions of increasing responsibility at country, regional, and global levels. His expertise spans multiple therapeutic areas, including urology, oncology, organ transplantation, renal medicine, dermatology, and women’s health.

Dr Siddiqui has made significant contributions to the research and clinical development of mirabegron, the first in class β3-adrenoceptor agonist used in the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB). He has been involved in various studies assessing the efficacy, safety, and patient adherence related to mirabegron therapy, informing treatment guidelines world-wide. Through these contributions he has played an important role in advancing the understanding and clinical management of OAB and LUTS.

Dr Siddiqui has also played a pivotal role in the clinical advancement and launch of VEOZA™ (fezolinetant), a first-in-class non-hormonal treatment for moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms (VMS) associated with menopause, offering a valuable alternative to women unable or unwilling to use hormonal treatment. He led medical affairs efforts for the drug, focusing on patient-reported outcomes such as sleep quality and work productivity. Under his leadership Astellas Pharma has initiated the HIGHLIGHT study, a P3 fezolinetant RCT assessing the efficacy and safety in women with breast cancer experiencing VMS while on adjuvant endocrine therapy.

Academically, Dr Siddiqui holds a BSc and MBBS degree. He completed his surgical training in 2003 and earned Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS). He conducted research in prostate and bladder cancer at University College London, leading to the award of Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. In 2006, he transitioned to pharmaceutical medicine, joining Astellas Pharma and completed the postgraduate course in Pharmaceutical Medicine at Cardiff University in 2008. He has been a member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine since 2008. Dr Siddiqui’s contributions to medical research are substantial, with over 60 peer-reviewed publications and more than 150 scientific congress presentations. He has also developed and validated a comprehensive patient-reported outcome questionnaire for overactive bladder (OAB). His leadership skills are further enhanced by training from INSEAD and Duke Business Schools.

Beyond his pharmaceutical career, Dr Siddiqui supported the NHS as an Honorary Urologist at Ealing Hospital London from 2009 to 2015. During the Covid-19 pandemic (2020-22), he supported the NHS North West Surrey mass vaccination program as a clinical lead at the vaccination clinics.

Dr Usha Sukumaran brings over 25 years of clinical experience and a strong foundation in pharmaceutical medicine and clinical research. She began her medical training at Madras Medical College in India and completed specialist training in family medicine, followed by a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in pharmaceutical medicine in the UK.

She has held key roles in both academic and industry settings, contributing to early and late-phase clinical development across a range of therapeutic areas including CNS, respiratory, endocrinology, dermatology, immunology, and women’s health.

Currently, Dr Sukumaran is a Medical Director at Indivior, a global pharmaceutical company focused on addiction and mental health. She leads clinical development activities across early and late-phase programmes, with focus on protocol development, regulatory strategy, medical monitoring, pharmacovigilance and global trial management.

Previously, she served as Clinical Safety Monitor and Medical Monitor at the University of Oxford, where she played a key role in the PANORAMIC trial—one of the UK’s largest COVID-19 platform studies.

Beyond her clinical and industry work, Dr Sukumaran is deeply committed to education and mentorship. She is an Educational Supervisor for the Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialty Training (PMST) programme and a Board Examiner with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine.

She is truly honoured to be awarded Fellowship of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, reflecting her ongoing commitment to advancing safe and effective medicines through evidence-based research, collaboration and mentorship.
