FPM Annual Awards 2025

Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialty Training equips physicians with specialist knowledge and capabilities to practise to the highest ethical and professional standards. 

Find out more about some of them who have successfully completed Specialty Training below (displayed in alphabetical order):

Dr Daniela Hristova

Dani is a pharmaceutical physician with extensive experience in clinical research, medical monitoring, and drug safety across a range of therapeutic areas. She began her career as a Phase I research physician and later worked as an investigator and Principal Investigator on a number of Phase II to Phase IV studies through roles in CROs and biotech companies.

Dani has a strong interest in women’s health and is an advocate for evidence-based menopause care. She is a member of the British Menopause Society and has completed the BMS Certificate in Menopause Management. Alongside her work in pharmaceutical medicine, Dani has held NHS roles as a trust grade doctor and holds a Diploma in CBT.

She currently works as a freelance Senior Consultant Physician, with previous roles including Clinical Research Physician and Medical Director positions at Argenx, ICON, Orion-Simbec, and Reckitt.

Dr Helen Philpott

Helen is Medical Director at Bionical Emas, a global Early Access Programs (EAP), and Clinical Trial Supply (CTS) group, bringing life-changing medicines to patients around the world.  Currently working in Medical Affairs, she also has experience in Clinical Development, and previously worked in Clinical Research for over 6 years, including as a Principal Investigator for Early Phase Clinical Trials, and contributing to the delivery of over 80+ early phase trials during this time.

Before joining the Pharmaceutical Industry, Helen gained her CCT in General Practice and worked in the NHS until 2021, alongside her Pharmaceutical Medicine work. She holds a medical degree from Brighton and Sussex Medical School and a Master of Pharmacology degree from the University of Bath.

Helen obtained her Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine in 2020, before commencing the PMST which she completed early through the accelerated CCT route and entered the GMC Specialist Register early in 2025.

Helen is a member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, and is currently working towards becoming and Educational Supervisor for the PMST with the aim to support other pharmaceutical physicians to the same high standard that she received with her own Educational Supervisor (with thanks to him).

Dr Jonathan Whitton

Dr Jonathan Whitton is a dedicated professional with a diverse background in clinical medicine and almost a decade in clinical research. His educational experience includes completing the Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialty Training (2024), a Master’s Degree in Medical Education (2018) and a Medical Degree from the University of Nottingham (2009), as well as an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences (2003) from the University of Birmingham. These achievements culminated in him being awarded Membership of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine in 2024.

Dr Whitton has experience in the pharmaceutical sector, first in human clinical research, working for Clinical Research Organisations across all phases of clinical trials (focussing on oncology and rare disease). He is currently working with a small US biotech in a pivotal clinical trial for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. During his time in the NHS he worked in mainly surgical specialities before ending as a registrar in Paediatric Surgery.

Dr Whitton enjoys the challenges of balancing family life with work and an outdoor lifestyle. He believes the rewarding journey is more important than the final destination.
