Celebrating World Clinical Trials Day 2025
Posted on: Tuesday 20 May 2025
Join us today as we celebrate the legacy of James Lind’s 1747 scurvy trial, widely regarded as the birth of modern clinical research. As we reflect on how far we’ve come, let’s also examine our current practices and look ahead to a more inclusive and impactful future for clinical trials.
Blog: World Clinical Trials Day 2025
This blog highlights how, even though trial methodology has come a long way, we must also examine our present practices to reimagine a more inclusive, efficient, and equitable future for clinical trials.
With input from FPM’s Clinical Trials Science and Regulations Group, Dr Kirsty Wydenbach FFPM, the group’s Chair, emphasizes the importance of looking beyond current achievements to address what has been left behind.
Report: Advancing Clinical Trials
In collaboration with Paddington Life Sciences and Egality Health, FPM has released a new report. This follows a roundtable hosted by FPM in November 2024, which brought together cross-sector expertise and perspectives to discuss how the UK could be a global leader in inclusive clinical trials.
The report, Advancing Clinical Trials: Making the UK a Global Leader in Inclusive Clinical Trials, summarises insights from the roundtable into ten recommendations for strengthening the UK’s research system.
Event: FPM Journal Club
In the week of International Clinical Trials Day, join us for an insightful discussion led by Dr Amy Rogers, a member of FPM’s Working in Partnership with Patients and Communities Forum.
Dr Amy Rogers will present a critical analysis of a paper examining participant engagement in decentralised clinical trials (DCTs), of which she is a lead author.
