Happy New Year and welcome to the first monthly e-bulletin from the FPM. These regular updates will keep members of the FPM and our partners up to date with what's going on in the FPM and also highlight external news of relevance.

FPM News

Election of Faculty President 2018
Our current President, Professor Alan Boyd, will complete his term of office in November 2018.  During February 2018 there will be call for nominations of Faculty Fellows to stand for election as our next President. All Fellows, with the exception of Honorary Fellows, are eligible to stand for election. Nominations can be made by Fellows and full Members who will also be eligible to vote in any subsequent ballot.  The call for nominations will be made by email and via our website and, if a ballot is required, this will be conducted by postal mail, so please ensure that you update your email and postal contact details in advance of this.  Later in 2018 we will also elect a new Vice President and appoint other members of the Faculty Board. Please check our website for updates and contact the office if you have any questions.

Health Select Committee inquiry into Brexit and medicines regulation

Clinical Pharmacology Skills Alliance launched
The FPM has joined with the BPS, ABPI and HEE to launch the Clinical Pharmacology Skills Alliance. Read more here.

EMA‏ launches patient videos
The EMA has launched three videos explaining what the organisation is and how it works to help patients. The first one explains that the Agency assesses, supervises and monitors medicines long before they appear in pharmacies and hospitals. View them here.

MHRA and making a success of Brexit
The MHRA has released a statement outlining progress to date on Brexit arrangements and expressing how continuing to play a full, active role in European regulatory procedures for medicines remains a priority. Read the full statement here.

EMA surveys pharmaceutical companies on their preparedness for Brexit
The EMA is launching a survey to gather information from companies on their Brexit preparedness plans and identify any particular concerns with regard to medicines supply that may impact public or animal health. Find out more here.

BIA Chief Medical Officer Summit 2018
