Since the referendum on 23 June 2016, when 51.9% voted to leave the EU, and the subsequent triggering of Article 50 on 29 March 2017, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine has been working with our partners to ensure that the UK's exit from the EU has a positive effect on the R&D landscape in the UK and the regulatory framework, and that the health and safety of patients and the general public is protected.

The Faculty's current (July 2017) statement (download) outlines our position. This will be updated regulaerly as Brexit negoitations develop over the coming months and years.

The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges have also released a press statement (6.7.17 - download) and a more detailed position statement (25.7.17 - download).

For reference, the UK Government's white paper on Brexit, published in Feb 2017, can be read here.
