FPM President's Medal

FPM President's

Significant achievements and innovations in our field do not always receive the recognition they deserve, so the FPM President and the Board of Trustees have decided to re-introduce an annual awarding of the FPM President's Medal.

The FPM President’s Medal recognises exceptional individuals who have gone above and beyond to deliver fundamental and transformational change to the field of pharmaceutical medicine.

“I am very excited that FPM is re-introducing the FPM President's Medal, which is to be awarded for unique contributions to pharmaceutical medicine. The last awards were some years ago, so this re-introduction provides us with an opportunity to put the focus on outstanding achievements made by individuals and teams working within the specialty.

Our hope is that we all will take part to consider our colleagues and their value to the science and practice of pharmaceutical medicine. We can all see what is great in our colleagues, so please submit your nominations. The awards will be made during the FPM Annual Dinner on Wednesday 13 November."

FPM President, Professor Tim Higenbottam

How can I get involved?

Nominations are now closed.

Nominating someone is a fantastic opportunity to give recognition to an individual whose contribution to pharmaceutical medicine has transformed lives, inspired others or driven change through their professionalism, commitment, creativity, and hard work. The nature of contribution which qualifies has been kept deliberately broad and nominees could work within pharmaceutical medicine, including medical devices, or in another area that has led to a contribution that has advanced the practice of pharmaceutical medicine.

The nomination process is simple: just let us know who you wish to nominate and outline why you think this person should receive the FPM President’s Medal.

Who can nominate?

All FPM members including Affiliate, Associate, Member, Fellow and Honorary members are eligible to nominate.

Who can be nominated?

The nominee does not have to be medically qualified but must work within the field of pharmaceutical medicine or in an area which has facilitated the making of an important contribution to pharmaceutical medicine. The award is typically made to an individual, however nominations for a team will also be considered.

What next?

A panel appointed by the FPM Board will review the nominations and the winners notified in late September.

Winners of the FPM President’s Medal are invited to attend the FPM Annual Dinner at the Royal College of Physicians on Wednesday 13 November 2019 where they will be presented with the Medal and their success celebrated alongside our guests and members.

The President will read out a short citation when the award is presented citing the information provided by the person nominating the awardee and this will also be published on our website.
