Faculty membership

All members of the Faculty are medically qualified. There are four main categories of membership:
Affiliate,
Associate (Training),
Member (MFPM) and
Fellow (FFPM), as well as Honorary Fellowship, Honorary Membership and Membership by Distinction.

Overseas members of Faculty comprise approximately 30% of the total with over 30 countries represented.
The benefits of all categories of membership are:
- Participation in your professional body by supporting and contributing to the Faculty's mission statement (advancing the science and practice of pharmaceutical medicine for the benefit of the public) through participation on Faculty committees, sub-committees or working parties, symposiums, examinations, specialty training, contributions to Faculty newsletter, etc.
- A member of a Faculty with over 1,450 other pharmaceutical physicians worldwide
- Eligible to register for the Faculty's CPD on-line programme
- Newsletter of the Faculty which is published 4 times a year
Revalidation through Faculty Designated Body
For Faculty members who have a prescribed connection with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine Designated Body for revalidation with the UK General Medical Council there will be an additional annual charge of approximately £900 per year. For further information please click here.
Ordinary Fellowship of the Faculty is awarded to Members (MFPM) who are nominated by current Fellows and approved by the Fellowship Committee and Faculty Board. Fellowship nomination forms will be distributed to Fellows and Members in January or February of each year. Individuals who have made a distinguished contribution to Pharmaceutical Medicine can be awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Faculty.
Membership of the Faculty and the right to use the postnominals MFPM is open to physicians who hold the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine awarded by Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine awarded by Free University, Brussels, or hold the University Professional of Advanced Studies in Pharmaceutical Medicine awarded by the University of Basel/ECPM.

Associate (Trainee) membership
Associate (Trainee) Membership applies only to those enrolled on the Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialty Training (PMST) programme. Associate (Trainee) Membership is contingent on enrolment in PMST and the issue of an NTN (National Training Number) by the JRCPTB (Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board). Affiliate membership
Affiliate membership is open to any physician who works in or has an interest in pharmaceutical medicine. Applicants must possess a medical qualification listed in the WHO Directory and current registration with the GMC or the relevant professional body in the country in which they are practising or where they were awarded their primary medical qualification. Affiliate members are eligible to attend open meetings organised by the Faculty. They will also receive the Faculty newsletter and any mailings sent by the Faculty to the membership as a whole. Affiliate membership, however, does not confer the right to vote on Faculty matters or the right to append any postnominals or words denoting membership of the Faculty.

Membership by Distinction and Honorary Membership
Information on the awards of these Membership categories is available on the
Fellowship election page. These categories of Membership are awarded annually through nomination by two Fellows of the Faculty, and subsequent approval by the Fellowship Committee and Faculty Board.
