The Faculty

Since its establishment in October 1989, the Faculty has led the development and maintenance of the highest standards of pharmaceutical medical practice through training, examinations, professional development and the medical/scientific development of the specialty. The Faculty's constitution is set out in the Standing Orders. The organisational structure of the Faculty is led by the Board, which is supported by its Standing Committees and their sub-committees and working groups. The Faculty's Honorary Officers, the President, Vice President, Registrar, Academic Registrar and Treasurer and other committee members are elected and nominated from the Faculty's general membership for a fixed term of office. The Board includes the Officers, ex-officio and co-opted members and ordinary members elected from the general membership. The responsibility for the operation of the Faculty lies with the members of the Faculty Board as Trustees of the Charity. As the role and governance of the Faculty is evolving, in 2005, the Faculty approved a five-year strategic plan to facilitate the future development of the charity and to answer the challenges it will face in the future.

The Faculty holds an Annual Meeting in the autumn, which incorporates an Annual General Meeting, a Symposium, and Awards Ceremony and Dinner. The Faculty also publishes a thematic newsletter three times per annum as well as an Annual Meeting supplement.

The Faculty's Annual Report and Accounts (2177KB) for 2007 can be viewed here or are available upon request from the Faculty office.
