Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine
The Diploma examination is open to doctors who have entered pharmaceutical medicine and received structured training in the discipline. From 2008, the requirement for two years of General Professional Training and of post-registration clinical practice has been removed. Applicants for Membership of the Faculty or for specialty registration are reminded that they must meet additional eligibility requirements. Success in the Diploma examination is necessary but not sufficient.
Eligibility
Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
Medical Registration: must possess a medical qualification recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK and be included on an appropriate medical register.
Experience in Pharmaceutical Medicine: by the time of the Diploma Examination, at least two years in a post that provides practical experience and training in pharmaceutical medicine.
The next examination will take place on 14-15 October 2010 at the Royal College of Physicians, London*. The examination packs for 2010 are now available. Please contact the Faculty office to request a pack - fpm@fpm.org.uk.

* The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine reserves the right to change the venue in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
As announced in 2009, the assessment of the ability to critique a published paper will be conducted as a written examination, a 'Critical Appraisal paper', in place of the oral examination held in previous years.
