Committee of Affiliates, Associates and Members

CAAM is comprised of Affiliates, Associates and Members of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine. The Committee provides a forum for discussion of matters affecting Affiliates, Associates and Members and communication with and input to the Faculty Board and its constituent committees.

The Committee is dedicated to listening, reviewing and being responsive to the views expressed by all interested parties. CAAM aims to reflect, in its membership, the diversity of roles, specialties and experience that is delivered by pharmaceutical physicians across the pharmaceutical industry.

The current membership includes individuals supporting functions such as medical affairs, pharmacovigilance, clinical development and regulatory affairs. They work for small, medium and large pharmaceutical companies.

Previous members have also worked for regulatory authorities, CROs or as independent consultants. Members have varied industry experience, ranging from those who have yet to sit the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine to others with more than 10 years experience.

To date, CAAM has enjoyed a great deal of success in fulfilling its aims, not least of all in its representations at various meetings, such as the Faculty Board and the Communications Committee.

Previously, the Committee has also provided input and advice on key issues such as:

- Revalidation

- Higher Medical Training (HMT) in Pharmaceutical Medicine

- Retrospective recognition

- Curriculum modules for HMT

CAAM recently conceived and helped establish the Outstanding Contribution Award for Affiliates, Associates and Members of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine as well as an e-mail network for pharmaceutical physicians undertaking Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialty Training (formerly HMT).

Furthermore, representatives from the Committee have joined a number of Faculty subcommittees such as the Curriculum and Assessment Working Group, thus affording CAAM an invaluable opportunity to participate in a broader range of activities pertinent to Affiliates, Associates and Members.

CAAM welcomes contributions and comments from all pharmaceutical physicians, whether related to a matter under active consideration or something entirely different. CAAM can only fulfil its objectives and be up-to-date if you inform us of your views and concerns.

Members of CAAM can also offer informal advice to doctors considering a career in pharmaceutical medicine. If you would like a member of CAAM to contact you or you would like any issues raised through CAAM please contact Konrad Obiora, Deputy Education Administrator.
